Asset-Liability Management (ALM) is a strategic management process used by financial institutions, including credit unions, to manage risks that arise from mismatches between the assets and liabilities (debts) on their balance sheets. Essentially, it involves ensuring that a credit union's income is sufficient to cover its costs and has adequate liquidity to meet its obligations.
